Possible Causes
Open-circuit grill heating element, Burnt or loose wiring at grill terminals, Faulty grill relay on control board, Overtemperature cut-out tripped near grill area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the oven to cool fully before inspection.
- Visual inspection: Look at the grill element inside the oven for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
- Access terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the grill element terminals. Check for loose or burnt connectors.
- Test continuity: Disconnect one terminal and measure resistance across the grill element. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
- Check safety thermostat: Some models have a thermal cut-out near the grill. Test it for continuity; if open, it may have tripped due to overheating and may need replacement.
- Replace components: Replace a faulty grill element or tripped/open safety thermostat with DeLonghi-approved parts. If these are good but F18 persists, the grill relay on the control board may be defective and the board should be replaced.
