Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned burner cap, Clogged burner ports, Faulty spark electrode at that burner, Broken ignition wire to electrode
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply and ensure all burner knobs are in the OFF position. Allow the cooktop to cool.
- Clean burner parts: Remove the burner cap and head. Wash them in warm soapy water, scrubbing ports with a soft brush. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Clear ports: Use a wooden toothpick to gently clear any blocked gas ports. Do not use metal objects that can enlarge the holes.
- Reassemble correctly: Place the burner head and cap back in their exact positions, ensuring they sit flat and centered.
- Inspect electrode: Check the ceramic spark electrode near the burner for cracks or heavy buildup. Clean it with a non-abrasive pad.
- Test ignition: Restore gas and power, then turn the knob to ignite. If there is no spark at that burner but others spark, the electrode or its wire may be faulty and should be replaced.
