Oven overheats and burns food even at low temperature settings.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker to prevent further overheating. Do not use the oven until the fault is corrected.

• Test sensor: Measure resistance of the oven temperature sensor at room temperature and compare to specification. Replace if out of range.
• Check wiring: Inspect element wiring for incorrect connections that might bypass control circuits.
• Control board: If elements heat even when the oven is off, the heating relay may be welded closed. The control board must be replaced.
• Thermostat models: On non-electronic models, test the mechanical thermostat for proper switching and replace if it does not open at the correct temperature.
