Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Stuck heating relay on control board, Miswired elements after previous repair, Faulty thermostat (on manual models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker to prevent further overheating. Do not use the oven until the fault is corrected.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance of the oven temperature sensor at room temperature and compare to specification. Replace if out of range.
- Check wiring: Inspect element wiring for incorrect connections that might bypass control circuits.
- Control board: If elements heat even when the oven is off, the heating relay may be welded closed. The control board must be replaced.
- Thermostat models: On non-electronic models, test the mechanical thermostat for proper switching and replace if it does not open at the correct temperature.
