Possible Causes
Blocked cooling fan intake or exhaust, Failed cooling fan motor, Dust buildup on heat sink, Faulty fan control circuit on power module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the cooktop to cool before opening the unit.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is sufficient clearance under the cooktop and that cabinet panels are not blocking airflow.
- Clean fan and heat sink: Remove the bottom cover and gently vacuum dust from the fan blades, motor, and aluminum heat sink fins. Do not bend fins.
- Test fan operation: Restore power and start a zone at medium power with the bottom cover temporarily in place. Listen for the fan; if it does not run or is noisy, the fan motor may be failing.
- Check fan connector: With power off, reseat the fan connector on the power module.
- Replace faulty fan: If the fan does not spin freely by hand or fails to start, replace the cooling fan assembly.
