Possible Causes
Burnt out bake element, Loose or burnt element terminals, Faulty bake relay on control board, Broken wiring to element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working inside the oven or behind the range.
- Inspect bake element: Look for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks on the lower element.
- Test continuity: Remove at least one wire from the element and measure resistance. An open circuit means the element is bad.
- Check terminals: Pull the range out and remove the rear panel to inspect element connections for burning or looseness.
- Replace element: Unscrew the element from inside the cavity, pull it forward, transfer wires, and install the new element.
- If element is good: The oven control board’s bake relay or wiring may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
