Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned burner cap, Cracked or shorted spark electrode at that burner, Blocked burner ports, Loose electrode wire for that burner
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas and power before cleaning or adjusting burners.
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick. Ensure no food or grease blocks the gas flow.
- Check cap alignment: Refit the burner cap so it sits flat and centered. Misalignment can prevent ignition.
- Inspect electrode: Examine the electrode tip near the burner. If the ceramic is cracked or the tip is heavily corroded, replace the electrode.
- Verify wiring: Trace the electrode wire back to the ignition module. Reseat the connector and ensure the wire is not broken.
After reassembly, restore gas and power and test ignition. If the burner still fails to light but you smell gas, turn it off and contact a gas-safe technician.
