Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor assembly, Misaligned door latch striker, Broken latch switch or microswitch, Loose wiring between latch and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly when powered.

  • Check door alignment: Ensure the oven door closes fully and evenly. Adjust hinges or door alignment if the latch does not engage the striker properly.
  • Access latch assembly: Remove the top panel or front control panel (depending on Falcon model) to access the door lock motor and switches.
  • Test latch motor: With power disconnected, check resistance of the lock motor coil. An open circuit indicates a failed motor; replace the door lock assembly.
  • Inspect switches: Many Falcon locks use position switches to report locked/unlocked status. Test continuity of these switches while manually moving the latch. Replace if they do not change state.
  • Check wiring: Reseat connectors at the latch and EOC. Repair any damaged wires.

If the door is stuck locked, consult the service manual for the mechanical release method; forcing the door can damage the enamel and hinges.
