Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor behind control panel, Blocked cooling air vents, Faulty fan triac or relay on control board, Defective overheat thermostat on control cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Check fan operation: With the top panel removed, restore power briefly and start an oven cycle. If the cooling fan does not run, turn power off and test the fan motor for continuity. Replace if open or seized.
- Inspect vents: Ensure the top and rear vents are not blocked by cabinetry or debris. Clean dust and grease from intake and exhaust slots.
- Test overheat thermostat: Locate the control cavity overheat thermostat (usually clipped to the top of the oven cavity). Check for continuity at room temperature. If open, replace it.
- Control board check: If the fan motor and thermostat are good, the fan drive circuit on the EOC may be faulty. Replace the EOC if it does not supply power to the fan when required.
Do not operate the oven with a non-functioning cooling fan; this can damage electronics and surrounding cabinetry.
