Possible Causes

Shorted bake or grill element, Burnt relay contacts on EOC, Damaged power wiring to elements, Internal short on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Verify with a non-contact tester that the range is de-energized.

  • Inspect heating elements: Visually check bake and grill elements for blisters, cracks, or burn-through. Replace any damaged elements.
  • Test elements: Disconnect element terminals and measure resistance. A dead short (near 0 Ω) or open circuit indicates a faulty element.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the EOC to the elements for burnt insulation or loose terminals. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Control board inspection: Remove the control panel and inspect the EOC for burnt spots or damaged relays. If present, replace the EOC.

If the breaker trips immediately when the oven is turned on, do not repeatedly reset it; locate and correct the short first.
