Possible Causes
Overheated or failed lock motor, Jammed lock mechanism, Faulty lock position switch, Control board not receiving lock feedback
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely. Disconnect power before attempting to release the lock.
- Wait and reset: Some locks will release automatically once the cavity cools. After cooling, turn power off for 5 minutes, then back on to see if the lock resets.
- Manual release: Consult the Falcon service manual for the specific model to locate the manual lock release (often accessible from the top or through the front panel). Gently move the release to unlock the door.
- Inspect lock assembly: With the top or front panel removed, check the lock motor and linkage for signs of overheating or mechanical binding. Lubricate pivot points lightly with high-temperature-safe lubricant if stiff.
- Test switches: Use a multimeter to verify that lock/unlock position switches change state when the mechanism moves. Replace the lock assembly if switches are faulty or the motor is open.
Do not force the door open; this can bend hinges and damage the enamel.
