Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck relay on EOC, Failed mechanical thermostat (on some gas models), Blocked cooling vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and, for gas ovens, shut off gas supply. Allow the oven to cool fully.
- Check vents: Ensure that ventilation openings around the range are not blocked by cabinets or objects.
- Test sensor: Measure oven sensor resistance at room temperature; replace if significantly lower than spec.
- Inspect control board: Look for signs of burnt or welded relays. If elements heat with no call for heat, replace the EOC or thermostat.
Do not continue using an oven that overheats; this can damage cabinetry and pose a fire risk.
