Control knobs on range or cooktop are hard to turn or feel loose

Safety first: Turn off gas and power before removing knobs or panels.

• Clean around stems: Remove knobs and clean around the valve stems with a mild degreaser. Do not allow liquid to enter the valve body.
• Inspect knobs: Check for cracked plastic or worn inserts. Replace any damaged knobs.
• Valve condition: If valves are stiff even after cleaning, the internal valve may be worn and should be replaced by a qualified gas technician.
• Panel alignment: Ensure the control panel is not pressing against the knobs, causing binding.
