Oven beeps and displays F1, oven will not start or shuts off shortly after starting

Safety first: Turn the range off at the wall switch or circuit breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.

• Power reset: Switch the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. Try setting the oven to bake at 180°C/350°F. If F1 returns, continue.
• Check sensor connection: Remove the back panel (freestanding range) or lower front panel (wall oven) to access the oven temperature sensor harness where it plugs into the main control board. Ensure the plug is fully seated and not burnt or corroded.
• Inspect the sensor: From inside the oven cavity, locate the thin metal probe at the rear wall. Check that it is firmly mounted and not physically damaged or coated in heavy grease. Clean gently if needed.
• Test the sensor (for qualified persons with a multimeter): Disconnect power. Unplug the sensor from the harness and measure resistance across the two sensor pins. A typical Fisher & Paykel NTC sensor should read around 1080–1100 Ω at 20°C (68°F). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
• If sensor tests good: The fault is likely in the electronic oven control (EOC) or its harness. Inspect the harness for pinched or burnt wires. If wiring is intact, the control board will usually need replacement.
