Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Moisture or cleaning fluid inside control panel, Damaged ribbon cable between keypad and control, Faulty user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel trim.
- Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F7 returns immediately, continue.
- Dry out panel: If the issue started after cleaning, leave power off and allow the control panel to dry for 24 hours. Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the touchpad in the future.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel fascia to access the keypad ribbon cable. Ensure it is fully inserted into the control board connector and not damaged or kinked.
- Test keypad: With power restored, try each key. If certain keys do not respond or trigger F7, the touchpad membrane is likely faulty and must be replaced as part of the user interface assembly.
- Control board: If a new keypad does not resolve the issue, the control board's keypad input circuit may be defective and require replacement.
