Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Faulty door lock switch, Wiring issue between lock assembly and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. The door may be locked; do not force it open with tools.

  • Allow to cool: If the error occurred during or after self-clean, wait until the oven is completely cool. Some models will automatically unlock once temperature drops.
  • Manual release (if accessible): Remove the top rear panel to access the door lock assembly. Many Fisher & Paykel ranges have a manual release tab or lever on the lock motor. Gently move it to unlock the door.
  • Inspect lock assembly: Check the lock motor, latch, and switches for obvious damage or misalignment. Ensure the latch moves freely when operated by hand.
  • Check wiring: Verify the harness from the lock assembly to the control board is intact and firmly connected.
  • Component replacement: If the motor does not run during a lock/unlock command and power is present at its terminals (qualified persons only), replace the door lock motor assembly. If switches do not change state when the latch moves, replace the lock assembly.
