Gas Supply or Burner Blockage Fault
Gas cooktop burner clicks and sparks but flame does not light or is very weak
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Low gas pressure, Blocked injector (jet) for that burner
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner and allow components to cool. Turn off gas supply if removing injectors.
- Check burner cap: Ensure the burner cap is correctly seated on the base and not tilted. Misalignment can prevent gas from reaching the spark.
- Clean burner ports: Remove the cap and burner head. Use a soft brush or wooden toothpick to clear any food or grease from the gas ports. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Inspect injector: Look down into the burner base to see the brass injector. If blocked, carefully clean with a soft brush; do not use hard tools that can damage the orifice.
- Test gas supply: If all burners are weak, check that the gas shutoff valve is fully open and that the correct gas type (natural or LPG) and regulator are installed.
- Professional adjustment: If flames remain small or uneven, a technician may need to clean or replace injectors and verify gas pressure.
