Possible Causes
Burnt-out radiant heating element, Failed infinite control switch, Loose wiring at element terminals, Faulty hot surface indicator circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the cooktop glass.
- Visual inspection: From underneath (after removing the unit), inspect the radiant element for visible breaks or burn marks.
- Check wiring: Ensure all spade connectors are tight on the element and switch terminals.
- Continuity test: Use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. An open reading indicates a failed element.
- Switch test: If the element is good, test the infinite switch for continuity between terminals when turned on. Replace if faulty.
- Replace element: If the element is open or physically damaged, replace it with the correct Fisher & Paykel radiant element.
