Electric surface element on Frigidaire cooktop will not heat, indicator light may still come on.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before lifting the cooktop or removing elements.

• Swap elements (coil type):
  • On plug-in coil elements, swap the non-heating element with a known good one of the same size.
  • If the problem follows the element, replace the surface element. If it stays at the same location, suspect the receptacle or switch.
• Inspect receptacle:
  • Check for burnt or loose contacts in the element receptacle; replace if damaged.
• Test radiant element:
  • Lift the glass cooktop (radiant models) and test the suspect element for continuity; replace if open.
• Check infinite switch:
  • Test the surface element switch for continuity between terminals as you turn the knob; replace the infinite switch if it does not switch correctly.
