Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Stuck bake relay on electronic control board, Shorted wiring harness between sensor and control, Faulty electronic oven control (EOC)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the range OFF at the control panel and shut off power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working.
- Power reset: Flip the range breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then back ON. Try heating the oven to 350°F and monitor. If F10 returns or the oven overheats, continue.
- Check oven temperature sensor (RTD):
- Remove the rear access panel (freestanding) or backguard cover (slide-in) to access the sensor wiring, or remove the sensor from inside the oven (usually a thin metal rod at the back wall held by 2 screws).
- Disconnect the sensor harness and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. A typical Frigidaire sensor should read about 1050–1100 Ω at 70°F (21°C).
- If reading is far off (open, shorted, or very different from spec), replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring harness:
- Trace the two sensor wires from the sensor to the electronic oven control (EOC) in the control panel.
- Look for burnt, pinched, or broken insulation, and loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check control board relays:
- With power still OFF, remove the control panel and visually inspect the EOC for burnt spots or stuck relay contacts.
- If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC relay is likely stuck closed and the control board must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power, set oven to 350°F, and verify that temperature stabilizes and F10 does not reappear.
