Possible Causes

Pan overheated due to prolonged high power, Blocked ventilation under cooktop, Faulty temperature sensor on induction coil, Defective power module overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Surfaces and cookware may be extremely hot. Allow cooling before touching.

  • Remove cookware: Lift the pan off the affected zone and allow both the pan and glass to cool for at least 10–15 minutes.
  • Check ventilation: Inspect the cabinet under the cooktop. Ensure air inlets and outlets are not blocked by drawers, insulation, or stored items. Maintain the clearances specified in the Gaggenau installation manual.
  • Reduce power: When resuming cooking, start at a lower power level and avoid running boost (P) for extended periods.
  • Clean filters (if downdraft nearby): If the cooktop is integrated with a downdraft or nearby ventilation, ensure grease filters are clean to improve cooling airflow.
  • Persistent E2 on a single zone: Indicates a likely temperature sensor or power module fault. A technician should measure sensor resistance and module temperature and replace the defective component.
