Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (NTC), Shorted sensor wiring, Stuck relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: The oven may be excessively hot. Turn it off and allow it to cool fully. Disconnect power before testing components.
- Check for obvious overheating: Look for signs of burning or smoke. If present, keep power off and contact a technician.
- Test temperature sensor: With power off, access the rear of the oven and disconnect the oven temperature sensor. Measure its resistance at room temperature and compare to Gaggenau specs (typically around 1k–1.1kΩ at 25°C for many NTCs; verify in manual).
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness for damage or shorts to chassis.
- Replace sensor if out of spec: Install a new oven temperature sensor and retest.
- If sensor is good: The control board relay may be stuck closed, causing runaway heat. Replace the electronic oven control.
