Possible Causes
Faulty burner ignition switch, Defective spark module, No power to cooktop ignition circuit, Broken igniter wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off all burner knobs. If you smell gas, do not attempt to light the burner. Ventilate the area and shut off the gas supply. Disconnect power before internal checks.
- Check power: Ensure the cooktop/range is plugged in and the circuit breaker is on. Ignition requires electrical power.
- Test other burners: Turn on another burner. If none click, suspect the spark module or power supply. If others click, the issue is local to one burner.
- Inspect knob switch (technician): Remove the knob and top panel to access the burner ignition switch. Test for continuity when the knob is turned to ignite.
- Check wiring: Inspect the wiring from the switch to the spark module for breaks or loose connections.
- Replace parts: Replace the burner ignition switch if it does not close. If no burners click and power is present, replace the spark module.
