Possible Causes
Overheated or jammed door lock motor, Warped latch from high heat, Faulty lock position switch, Control not receiving lock open signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the oven to cool completely. Do not force the door open. Disconnect power before internal work.
- Wait for cooling: Some locks remain engaged until the oven is below a safe temperature. Wait at least 30–60 minutes after self-clean.
- Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power and see if the lock cycles.
- Manual release (technician): Remove the top panel or front trim to access the door lock assembly. Use the manual release lever (if provided) to unlock the door.
- Inspect lock: Check for warped or damaged latch components and test the lock motor and switches.
- Replace assembly: Replace the door lock/latch assembly if it binds or fails electrically.
