Possible Causes
Burned-out radiant element, Failed infinite switch or electronic surface control, Loose wiring at element terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before lifting the cooktop glass or accessing controls.
- Indicator light check: If the hot surface or element-on light comes on but the element stays cold, suspect the element itself.
- Access element: Lift the glass cooktop (after removing screws) to expose the radiant elements.
- Test continuity: Disconnect the suspect element and measure resistance across its terminals. An open reading indicates a failed element.
- Inspect wiring: Check for burnt or loose spade connectors and repair as needed.
- Check control: If the element tests good, test the infinite switch or electronic control output for that burner and replace if not sending power.
