Possible Causes
Failed electronic oven control (EOC), Shorted keypad membrane, Corroded keypad ribbon connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before opening the control panel.
- Power cycle: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes. Restore power and observe. If F1 appears immediately, suspect the control or keypad.
- Keypad isolation test: Remove the back panel or front bezel to access the control board. Unplug the keypad ribbon cable from the EOC. Restore power briefly:
- If F1 does not return with keypad unplugged, the keypad is bad.
- If F1 still appears with keypad unplugged, the EOC is bad.
- Inspect connectors: Look for burnt, discolored, or corroded pins on the ribbon connector. Clean gently with electronics contact cleaner if lightly oxidized.
- Replace faulty part: Order a keypad or full control panel assembly specific to your GE Profile model, or an OEM EOC. Transfer wires one at a time to the new board to avoid miswiring.
