Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control relay stuck on, Poor sensor harness connection causing incorrect readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the oven off and switch off the breaker immediately if you suspect overheating.
- Allow to cool: Let the oven cool completely before working on it.
- Check oven sensor resistance: Access the rear of the range or remove the back panel. Locate the oven temperature sensor (thin metal rod inside oven, usually back wall) and disconnect its harness. Measure resistance at room temperature with a multimeter; it should be ~1080 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If far off spec or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Inspect harness and connector: Look for burnt or loose connections between the sensor and control board. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC may be misreading temperature or leaving the bake/broil relay stuck on. Replace the EOC if F2 recurs.
