Possible Causes
Weak hot surface igniter, Failed gas safety valve, No gas supply to oven burner, Clogged oven burner ports
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power before servicing. If you smell strong gas, ventilate and contact your gas supplier.
- Observe igniter: Start a bake cycle and watch the igniter. It should glow bright orange and the burner should light within 30–60 seconds.
- Weak igniter: If the igniter glows but the burner never lights, the igniter may not be drawing enough current to open the gas valve. Replace the igniter.
- No glow: If the igniter never glows, test it for continuity and replace if open. Also check for 120V at the igniter leads when bake is commanded.
- Check burner: Clean the oven burner ports with a brush to remove debris.
- Gas valve: If a new igniter glows properly but no gas flows, the oven safety valve may be defective and should be replaced.
