Possible Causes
Failed spark igniter electrode at burner, Cracked ceramic insulator causing spark to ground, Loose or disconnected igniter wire, Failed spark module output for that burner
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas supply and disconnect power before servicing. Avoid open flames while testing.
- Swap burner caps: Ensure the burner cap is properly seated and not blocking the igniter.
- Check for spark: Turn power on, turn the knob to Lite, and observe the igniter. If there is no spark at that burner but others spark, the issue is local to that burner.
- Inspect igniter: With power off, examine the igniter electrode for cracks or heavy buildup. Clean gently with a soft brush; do not sand the electrode.
- Check wiring: Remove the cooktop and verify the igniter wire is firmly attached to the electrode and spark module. Replace damaged wires.
- Replace igniter: If the electrode is cracked or still does not spark, replace the burner igniter for that position.
