Safety: Ensure good ventilation; if smoke is heavy, turn off the appliance and ventilate the area.

• Initial burn-in: For new GE Profile ranges, run the oven empty at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues.
• Clean spills: Once cool, clean the oven interior, racks, and cooktop surface with appropriate cleaners.
• Avoid foil on bottom: Do not line the oven bottom with foil, which can trap spills and cause smoke.
• Inspect elements: Wipe off any visible grease on elements or burners when cool.
