Possible Causes
Defective glass touch control panel, Moisture or spill intrusion into keypad, Damaged ribbon cable between touchpad and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the range off at the breaker or unplug it before removing any panels. Capacitors on the control board can hold a charge; avoid touching bare circuitry.
Steps to try:
- Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F0 returns immediately, the keypad or control is likely faulty.
- Inspect for moisture/spills: Remove the control panel back cover (usually a few screws from the rear). Look for signs of liquid, corrosion, or sticky residue on the back of the glass touch panel and ribbon connector. If wet, disconnect power and allow to dry 24 hours.
- Check ribbon cable: Gently unplug the flat ribbon cable from the control board, inspect for burns or cracks, then reseat it fully. If the code clears temporarily but returns, the touchpad is usually failing.
- Isolate keypad vs board: On many GE models, if you disconnect the keypad ribbon and power up, a persistent F0 indicates a bad control board; no code or different code points to a bad keypad.
- Replace faulty part: If the keypad is integrated with the glass front, replace the entire touch control panel assembly. If separate, replace only the membrane switch/keypad.
