Possible Causes
Failed electronic oven control (EOC), Shorted touchpad keys, Damaged keypad ribbon connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the control area.
- Reset: Turn power off for 5–10 minutes. Restore power and test. If F1 reappears without pressing any keys, suspect the control or keypad.
- Keypad test: Press each key individually and see if any are unresponsive or trigger beeping. Sticky or unresponsive keys indicate a failing keypad.
- Inspect connections: Remove the rear control panel cover. Verify the keypad ribbon is fully seated and not pinched or damaged. Clean the connector with a dry, soft brush if dusty.
- Board vs keypad: If disconnecting the keypad ribbon and powering up still shows F1, the EOC is likely bad. If F1 disappears with keypad disconnected, replace the keypad/touch panel.
- Replace defective component: Swap the EOC or keypad assembly with a GE-compatible replacement, transferring wires one at a time to avoid miswiring.
