Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Stuck relay on control board, Poor sensor harness connection, Incorrect oven calibration or wiring short

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before working near the elements or sensor.

  • Visual check: Inspect the bake and broil elements for visible damage or warping that might cause localized overheating.
  • Test oven sensor: Locate the temperature sensor probe inside the oven (usually back wall, upper corner). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull it forward to access the connector. With power off, disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter: at room temperature (~70°F/21°C) it should be around 1080 Ω. Replace if far out of spec.
  • Check harness: Inspect the sensor wiring from the oven cavity to the control board for burns, shorts to chassis, or loose connectors.
  • Control board: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC relay may be stuck closed, causing runaway heat. Replace the control board.
  • After repair: Run a 350°F bake cycle and verify temperature with an oven thermometer. Adjust calibration in the user settings if needed.
