Possible Causes
Open (broken) oven temperature sensor, Unplugged or loose sensor connector, Broken sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector at control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before testing or replacing the sensor.
- Access sensor: Inside the oven, locate the sensor probe on the rear wall. Remove its mounting screws and gently pull it forward to expose the connector.
- Check connection: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated. If it was loose, reconnect, restore power, and test.
- Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected and at room temperature, measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical GE sensor should read ~1080 Ω at 70°F. If reading is infinite (open) or wildly off, replace the sensor.
- Inspect harness: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness to the control board for breaks or burns. Repair or replace the harness if damaged.
- Replace sensor: Install a new GE-compatible RTD sensor, secure with screws, and reconnect wiring. Test a bake cycle.
