Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Broken or jammed lock latch, Faulty door lock switch, Wiring issue between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool fully before working near the door lock mechanism.
- Check for mechanical jam: Inspect the door latch area for bent metal, debris, or misalignment. Gently move the latch with power off to see if it is stuck.
- Listen for lock motor: With power restored, attempt to start a self-clean. Listen for the lock motor running. No sound may indicate a failed motor or no power to it.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the range top or rear panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor and linkage. Look for broken plastic arms or disconnected rods.
- Test switches: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the lock switches when the latch is in locked and unlocked positions. Replace the lock assembly if switches are faulty or the motor is inoperative.
- Reset door: After repair, restore power and run a short self-clean or lock test to verify proper locking and unlocking.
