Possible Causes
Door lock motor not completing cycle, Warped door or latch from high heat, Failed lock switch feedback, Control board not releasing lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure the oven is fully cool before attempting to open the door. Turn off power at the breaker.
- Allow cooling time: Some GE models keep the door locked until temperature drops. Wait at least 1–2 hours after self-clean.
- Power reset: Turn power off for 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the control will re-home the lock and release the door.
- Manual release: With power off, remove the rear or top panel to access the lock motor. Manually move the lock arm to the unlocked position using a screwdriver.
- Inspect lock: Check for bent latch or damaged lock motor. Replace the door lock assembly if it binds or the motor is inoperative.
