Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Failed spark igniter electrode, Defective spark module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn all burner knobs to OFF. For gas work, shut off the gas supply and disconnect power before disassembly. Avoid open flames while troubleshooting.
- Check cap alignment: Remove and reseat the burner cap so it sits flat and centered on the burner base.
- Clean burner ports: Use a soft brush or a wooden toothpick to clear debris from the burner holes, especially near the igniter.
- Inspect igniter: Ensure the ceramic igniter is not cracked and is positioned close to the burner. Clean carbon buildup with a soft brush.
- Test spark: Turn the knob to LITE and look for a strong blue spark at the igniter. If no spark on any burner, suspect the spark module. If only one burner fails, the individual igniter or wiring is likely bad.
- Replace parts: Replace the faulty surface burner igniter or the spark module with GE-compatible components.
