Possible Causes
Shorted sensor element, Sensor wires shorted together, Moisture inside sensor connector, Control board input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the rear of the range.
- Disconnect sensor: Remove the rear panel and unplug the oven temperature sensor from the harness.
- Resistance test: Measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor that must be replaced.
- Check harness: Inspect the harness for pinched or melted insulation causing the two conductors to touch.
- Dry connectors: If there are signs of moisture, dry the connector thoroughly and apply a small amount of dielectric grease if recommended.
- Replace components: Install a new sensor if shorted. If the sensor and wiring are good but F4 persists, replace the electronic oven control.
