Possible Causes
Weak or misaligned thermocouple, Dirty burner causing flame not to reach sensor, Faulty safety valve (magnet unit), Loose thermocouple connection at valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner and allow it to cool. Close the gas supply before removing thermocouple connections.
- Hold knob longer: When lighting, press and hold the knob for 5–10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat fully. If the flame still goes out, continue troubleshooting.
- Clean burner: Ensure the flame is even and reaches the thermocouple tip. Clean the burner ports near the thermocouple thoroughly.
- Check thermocouple position: The tip should be in the upper part of the flame. Gently bend it closer if necessary, without kinking the tube.
- Inspect connections: Under the cooktop, locate where the thermocouple screws into the gas valve. Tighten the nut gently; do not overtighten.
- Replace components: If the problem persists, replace the thermocouple for that burner. If a new thermocouple does not hold, the safety valve (magnet unit) may be defective and should be replaced by a qualified gas technician.
