Possible Causes
Defective oven spark generator, Faulty oven thermostat or control knob switch, No mains power to ignition, Broken oven igniter electrode or wire
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the oven control to OFF. Disconnect power and close the gas supply before removing panels. Never attempt repairs if you smell strong gas; ventilate and call a professional.
- Check power: Ensure the range is plugged in and the outlet has power.
- Listen for clicking: Turn the oven knob to the ignition position. If there is no clicking, suspect the oven ignition switch or spark generator.
- Inspect igniter: Remove the oven base panel to access the oven burner and igniter. Check for cracks in the ceramic insulator and secure wiring.
- Test spark generator: If cooktop burners click but the oven does not, the oven output of the spark generator or its wiring may be faulty. Replace the module if no spark is produced at the oven electrode.
- Replace electrode: If the module is working but the electrode is damaged or heavily sooted, replace the oven igniter electrode.
