Possible Causes
Sensor leads shorted together, sensor wiring pinched against metal chassis, moisture ingress into sensor connector, failed NTC sensor with internal short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the appliance from the mains before touching any wiring.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear cover of the range or built-in oven. Follow the two-wire harness from the sensor to the control board. Look for crushed insulation where the harness passes through metal openings.
- Check for moisture: If the oven was recently steam-cleaned or exposed to heavy moisture, disconnect the sensor connector and allow it to dry completely. Clean any visible corrosion.
- Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance across the sensor terminals. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Re-route harness: If the harness is rubbing on sharp metal edges, protect it with high-temperature sleeving and secure it with cable ties away from hot or moving parts.
Warning: Do not bypass or short the sensor to clear the error; this disables temperature control and is unsafe.
