Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, broken door lock switch, misaligned latch mechanism, damaged wiring between lock assembly and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. Ensure the oven is cool and not in a self-clean cycle.

  • Check door movement: Open and close the oven door. It should latch smoothly. If the latch feels loose or jammed, inspect the latch hook and strike plate for bending or obstruction.
  • Access the lock assembly: Remove the top panel or control panel (depending on model) to reach the door lock motor and switches. Refer to the Gorenje service diagram for your exact model.
  • Inspect wiring and switches: Look for broken wires, loose connectors, or burned contacts on the lock motor and microswitches. Test continuity of the lock switch with a multimeter while manually moving the lock arm.
  • Reset the lock: With power off, manually move the lock arm to the unlocked position if it is stuck mid-travel. Reassemble and restore power to see if F5 clears.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the motor does not run when a self-clean or lock command is given, or the switch never changes state, replace the door lock assembly.

Note: Do not force the door open during a genuine high-temperature self-clean; wait until the oven cools and the lock releases or is manually reset by a technician.
