Possible Causes
Failed tangential cooling fan motor, blocked fan blades, faulty fan triac or relay on control board, broken wiring to cooling fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off power and allow the oven to cool fully before accessing internal components.
- Check air flow: Ensure that the front ventilation slots are not blocked by cabinetry or objects. Poor airflow can cause overheating and F8 errors.
- Access the cooling fan: Remove the top cover of the oven or range to reach the tangential cooling fan assembly above the oven cavity.
- Inspect the fan: Try spinning the fan wheel by hand (with power OFF). It should rotate freely without scraping. Clean any accumulated grease or dust from the blades.
- Test the motor: Disconnect the fan and measure its resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you are qualified, you can briefly power the fan with the correct mains voltage to confirm operation.
- Check wiring and control: Inspect the harness and connectors to the fan. If the motor is good but never receives voltage when the oven is hot, the control board’s fan driver (relay/triac) may be defective and require board replacement.
Warning: Do not operate the oven with a non-functioning cooling fan; this can overheat electronics and surrounding cabinetry.
