Possible Causes
Blocked cooling fan or air ducts, Failed cooling fan motor, Dust buildup on heat sink, Defective temperature sensor on power module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the appliance at the mains. Allow at least 30 minutes for internal components to cool.
- Check installation clearance: Verify that the cooktop has the minimum ventilation clearances specified by Gram (usually a gap in the cabinet and no solid drawer directly under the fan intake). Remove items stored directly under the cooktop.
- Inspect cooling fan: Access the underside of the cooktop and locate the cooling fan near the power modules. Check for obstructions (foil, insulation, debris) and remove them.
- Clean air paths: Use a vacuum cleaner and soft brush to remove dust from the fan blades, air inlets, and heat sinks on the power modules.
- Test fan operation: Restore power with the bottom cover temporarily in place and start a low-power setting. Listen for the fan. If it does not run or is noisy, disconnect power again and replace the fan with the correct Gram cooling fan assembly.
- Re-test: After cleaning or replacing the fan, reassemble and test the cooktop. If E2 persists, the temperature sensor on the power module or the module itself may be faulty and require replacement.
Warning: Never bypass thermal protection. Overheating can crack the glass or damage wiring.
