Possible Causes

Loose harness between UI board and power module, Damaged communication cable, Faulty user interface PCB, Faulty power module PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing any panels.

  • Access electronics: Remove the cooktop from the worktop and take off the bottom cover to expose the user interface (UI) board and power module.
  • Check harness connections: Locate the multi-core communication cable between the UI and power module. Reseat both connectors and ensure locking tabs are engaged.
  • Inspect cable: Look for pinched, cut, or burnt sections of the cable. Replace the harness if any damage is found.
  • Visual PCB inspection: Examine both boards for obvious damage (burn marks, cracked solder joints at the connector). Cold joints can sometimes be re-soldered by a skilled technician.
  • Board replacement: If wiring is intact and E6 persists, replace the user interface PCB first. If the fault remains, replace the power module PCB.

Warning: Static discharge can damage electronic boards. Use ESD protection when handling PCBs.
