Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Pinched or shorted sensor wiring harness, Moisture intrusion in sensor connector, Shorted input on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspection.

  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven temperature sensor from inside the cavity. Check for damaged insulation, pinched wires, or signs of moisture.
  • Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. A shorted sensor will show very low resistance (near 0 Ω). Replace if shorted.
  • Check harness for shorts: With the sensor removed, test continuity between each wire and chassis ground. Any continuity indicates a short to ground; repair or replace the harness.
  • Control board check: If sensor and harness are good but F4 persists, the sensor input circuit on the EOC may be shorted. Inspect for burn marks; replace the control board if necessary.

Do not operate the oven with a known sensor fault, as temperature control will be inaccurate.
