Possible Causes
Weak hot surface igniter, Failing oven safety valve, Inconsistent gas pressure, Blocked burner ports
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas and power before disassembly. If you smell gas, ventilate immediately.
- Clean burner: Remove and clean the oven burner tube, ensuring all ports are clear for even flame.
- Observe operation: Watch the igniter and burner during a cycle. If the flame lights then goes out repeatedly, the valve may be dropping out due to weak igniter current.
- Replace igniter: Install a new oven igniter first, as this is the most common cause.
- Check gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve is fully open and that other gas appliances are functioning normally.
- Safety valve: If issues persist after igniter replacement, have a technician test and replace the oven safety valve if necessary.
Do not attempt to adjust internal gas components without proper training.
