Display shows E1 and oven will not heat or shuts down shortly after starting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains power before accessing internal components.

• Locate the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the small metal probe (usually at the rear upper wall). This is the temperature sensor (NTC).
• Check mounting and damage: Ensure the sensor is firmly mounted and not bent, broken, or covered in heavy grease or burnt-on residue. Clean gently if dirty.
• Test resistance: Remove the rear panel to access the sensor connector. Disconnect it and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical Hansa NTC is around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (check service manual for exact spec). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a faulty sensor.
• Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the main PCB. Look for cuts, burns, or loose plugs. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
• Replace sensor: If resistance is out of range, install a new Hansa oven temperature sensor (NTC probe). Route the wiring as originally installed and secure with clips.
• Control board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the temperature input circuit on the main PCB may be defective and the main control board will need replacement.

Warning: Do not operate the oven with a bypassed or shorted sensor; this can cause overheating and fire risk.
