E2 error on display, oven overheats or shuts off with fan running continuously
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the range as specified in the Hansa installation manual. Clear any obstructions from rear and side vents.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the rear cover to access the oven cooling fan (not the convection fan). Spin the fan blades by hand; they should move freely. If stiff or seized, replace the Hansa cooling fan motor.
- Test fan operation: Restore power briefly and start a low-temperature bake. The cooling fan should start after a short delay. If it does not, disconnect power and test the fan motor for continuity and supply voltage from the PCB (only if trained).
- Check safety thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat on the top or rear of the oven cavity. Test for continuity. If open and does not reset when cool, replace the Hansa high-limit safety thermostat.
- Control board relay: If the oven overheats rapidly, a stuck heating relay on the main PCB may be energizing elements continuously. Inspect the board for burnt spots and replace the main control board if necessary.
Warning: Overheating faults are a fire hazard. If you smell burning insulation or see smoke, disconnect power immediately and have the unit professionally inspected.
