Strong burning smell or smoke from oven during normal cooking (not first use)

Safety first: Turn off the oven if smoke is heavy. Open windows for ventilation. Do not leave the oven unattended.

• Inspect cavity: When cool, remove racks and check for burnt-on food or grease, especially near elements and on the bottom panel.
• Deep clean: Use an oven cleaner suitable for enamel surfaces (avoid on stainless steel or aluminum parts). Follow product instructions and rinse thoroughly.
• Avoid foil misuse: Do not line the oven bottom or cover air vents with foil; this can cause overheating and odors.
• Element check: If smell persists and elements show blistering or exposed wire, replace the affected Hansa heating element.
