Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wire insulation melted and shorted to chassis, Failed main control board misreading temperature, Broiler or bake relay on PCB stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working.
- Visual inspection: Check inside the oven for foil or pans touching the sensor probe. Remove anything that could trap heat around the sensor.
- Test the sensor: Remove the sensor as for E1. Measure resistance at room temperature. A reading significantly lower than spec (e.g., under 800 Ω) or near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Look for melted insulation where the sensor wires pass through the rear oven wall. Repair or replace the harness if any copper is exposed or shorted to metal.
- Check relays on PCB: With power disconnected, inspect the main control board for burnt spots near the bake/broil relays. If a relay appears welded or the board is charred, replace the main control board.
- Recalibrate / test: After replacing parts, run the oven at 180–200°C and verify that it cycles on and off and does not overshoot excessively.
